About Mindful Pathways Support

The support we once wished existed.

Mindful Pathways Support is a disability support provider in Perth. Our support workers help people at home and in the community, and we’re registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. Ahlam Methri started it after watching her sister move between providers, and noticing what was missing.

Psychology-informed

Support shaped by an understanding of behaviour, motivation and emotional wellbeing.

Consistency matters

We work to keep the same support workers in place wherever possible.

Why Mindful Pathways Support exists

It started with a question nobody was asking.

When Ahlam’s sister began needing support, the family did what most families do. They found a provider, then another, then another.

There was never a shortage of help. Someone came, the room was cleaned, the appointment was reached, the shift was done. What was missing was curiosity. Nobody asked what made it hard for her to get started, what encouraged her, or what she could do herself with the right person beside her.

Ahlam noticed something else. Her sister’s wider team had strategies in place, written by people who knew what they were doing. The support workers rarely asked about them, so on an ordinary Tuesday none of it reached the kitchen.

She didn’t want someone to clean her sister’s room. She wanted someone patient enough to help her clean it.

For Ahlam, that distinction mattered. It still does.

Our approach

Understand the person, then the task.

The story became a rule. Before anyone does anything for a person, find out what they’re working towards, what makes it hard, and what they could do themselves with the right support beside them. Three things follow from that.

Ask before you plan

What makes it hard to get started, what encourages the person, what a good day looks like. We ask before the first shift, and we keep asking.

Do the part they can, with them

If someone can manage part of a task, that's the part we do together. Some days the job simply needs doing, and that's fine too.

Build on what works

We notice the approaches, routines and small steps that are helping, then keep building from there.

Founder

Ahlam Methri, Founder and Director.

Ahlam holds a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) and a Diploma of Health Science. That background shapes how Mindful Pathways Support thinks about everyday support: what motivates a person, why engagement changes from one day to the next, and how trust is built. It is not a clinical qualification, and MPS is not a clinical service. It is a way of paying attention.

“I care about one thing: whether the support actually works for the person.”

Psychology-informed

Paying attention to why, before how.

Psychology-informed means our support workers notice the human factors that shape a shift: what motivates the person, what a change in mood or energy might mean, what builds trust and what wears it down. It shows up most in three everyday situations.

When getting started is hard

Instead of assuming someone is unmotivated, we look at what might be making the task feel difficult or overwhelming.

When the usual approach isn’t working

We can break things into smaller steps, change the pace, or lean on routines and strategies that are already working.

When things change from day to day

Energy, mood and confidence can shift. Good support notices that and responds to the person in front of us that day.

Psychology-informed does not mean clinical psychology. MPS provides everyday disability support, not therapy, counselling, assessment or diagnosis. When something needs clinical input, we refer back to the person’s psychologist, OT or allied health team, and work alongside them.

What matters to us

What we count as progress.

Support is not successful simply because a shift was filled or a task was completed. What matters is whether the person feels understood, whether the support connects with what they are working towards, and whether everyday life becomes a little more manageable over time.

Some changes are small. Some take a long time. We believe they still count.

The wider team

Support works better when everyone is talking.

Most people we support have others around them: family, a Support Coordinator, an OT or psychologist. Everyday support goes better when it’s connected to what they’re doing, so we make a point of being easy to work with.

With families

We keep you in the loop without you having to chase. You’ll know who to call, and we’ll keep you updated when something changes or needs attention.

With Support Coordinators

We'll tell you before support starts if we don't have the right worker, and we keep you informed after, including when things are going fine.

With allied health

With consent, we follow the strategies you’ve set and share what our workers notice day to day. When something sits outside our role, we refer it back.

Who we support

The person first, whatever the diagnosis.

Mindful Pathways Support works with children, young people and adults across a range of support needs. We have a particular interest in supporting people who benefit from patience, consistency and a thoughtful approach to everyday routines, participation and change.

Get in touch

Let's start with a conversation.

You don’t need to have it all worked out. Tell us who the support is for, what a normal week looks like and what’s been hard lately. We’ll listen, ask a few practical questions and be clear about whether we’re the right fit.
